Safe Routes to Schools Director
Nora oversees Alameda County's Safe Routes to Schools Program. Under Nora's leadership, the program has expanded to offer comprehensive Safe Routes to Schools programs to 170 schools in Alameda County. In April, 2016, Nora was the inaugural recipient of the first annual Deb Hubsmith Champion award from the Safe Routes to School National Partnership. Previously, Nora served as the Wellness Coordinator for the Oakland Unified School District, where she developed a model wellness policy and founded the Coordinated School Health Council. Nora also served as the Executive Director for the national nonprofit consumer health organization, DES Action, where she co-authored federal legislation that expanded DES research and established the first national consumer education program about DES through the Centers for Disease Control.
Nora enjoys riding her bike from her home in Oakland's Laurel district to TransForm's downtown office. She holds a Masters in English Literature, and proudly features a "Little Free Library" in front of her house.
