After binge-driving this weekend, our car is parked & will remain so for a week!

Yesterday we put about 250 miles on our car doing a trip to Pinnacles National Monument, a place we've been wanting to hike for a long time.  We even hit the ultimate need-a-car destination on the way back: Target!

Anyway, last night we looked carefully for a parking spot for our car that won't have street cleaning over the next week so we can leave it in peace until June 8.

We found one, and then bid farewell.

Three hurdles await us this week in not driving:

  • Drew coaches a soccer team and somehow needs to get a whole lotta gear to practice without the car - and without getting a ride.
  • Marta has a friend flying in late on Thursday she'd ordinarily offer to pick up in the car... but that's not gonna happen.
  • We were hoping to do a hike this coming weekend outside of San Francisco, but will have to figure out how to get somewhere using the Transit and Trails website or bike instead.

Traveling with loads of

Traveling with loads of soccer gear without a car sounds crazy! I'm looking forward to hearing how you guys figure everything out!

As a soccer mom I am familar

As a soccer mom I am familar with the ubiqitious ball bag.  One idea: a baby burley trailer probably has the capacity for the equipment if you have one or can borrow one - look for the neighbors with 1-3 year olds for possible owners to borrow from (we kept ours due to its great hauling capacity).  Great way to meet you neighbors if you have not already.  We borrowed 3 for my son's 10th birthday and held chariot races with them.  Nice thing is they're easy to pick up from the lender  on you bike!
