Bike Lust (a positive example)

Even those of us with a goal of becoming car free cannot escape the joy of lusting after one another's stuff.  It is one of the great American pastimes, and is actually a quite sustainable behavior (so long as you do not act on it, most of the time).  Now, I pride myself on having functional yet flashy bikes so I inspire lust as often as I harbor it, but this bike month and car free challenge week we have been doing an even better job than usual.  On the way to Trader Joe's Tuesday night on my xtracycle cargo bike I had a chat with another dad along the Ohlone Greenway while he pedaled his very functional yet ho-hum standard biccyle and by the time we reached El Cerrito Plaza he was ready to convert to the extra hauling capacity and eliminate some of his own car trips to the grocery!
