My first challenge....getting from Santa Rosa to Berkeley

Here's a favorite recent photo taken during my sister Yvette's visit to Santa Rosa with my mom and niece Greta.  We decided to take the ferry into San Francisco from Larkspur.  It was Greta's first boat ride and she had a blast.  And don't worry, Greta's not really trying to throw my sister overboard in this photo!

Six days to go to the start of the challenge and I just received an email reminder about a conference I signed up for that takes place in Berkeley on June 1!  So.......now I need to figure out how to get from Santa Rosa to Berkeley without a car by 8:30 am.  And then of course there's the getting home part but one step at a time.  I guess I'll start by checking out 511.org to see what combination of bus/ferry/bart might be optimal (i.e. allow me to sleep in the latest on Tuesday morning!).

Does anyone have advice to share on going car-free from Santa Rosa to the east bay?

Hi Tanya, You inspire me! Way to go! Berkeley is tough, but I find that the fastest way to get to Berkeley is usually by GGT to Bart and Bart to East Bay. Hopefully, someday, we'll have bus rapid transit to East Bay! Another thought is to contact the conference organizers to find folks from North Bay and hook up with them via bus. Oh wait a minute, you are trying to be car-free! Hmmm. Big challenges, but I salute you for taking on this challenge! Thank you for everything you do! Jenny

Aw what a cute picture! I haven't had the chance to take the ferry yet but it looks like a lot of fun.

Santa Rosa to Berkleley sounds like quite a trek. Good luck - and let us know how it goes!
