This is why we all have to drive less.

While pictures like this one break my heart, I feel like we should be inundated by these right now: this is the price we pay for our addiction to oil.

Too often the photos shown are either NOT of the animals who are bearing the brunt of the oil spill, and when they do have photos of wildlife, it's of someone trying to clean up an animal.

By seeing these photos of animals getting cleaned up it gives the false impression that we can save these animals when most of the ones who are lucky enough to get treatment die anyway.  They have been dipped in a toxic substance.

Oil is something we should use rarely as a society.  We should use it for the absolute necessities like plastics for medical uses, that kind of thing.  We should make sure there's enough of it for people living 10,000 years from now to have it for their most critical needs.

Great post. Photos like that

Great post. Photos like that are truly heartbreaking, but we definitely do need to see them. We can't sit idly by while it continues to be covered up. And I agree - we need to reduce our oil use as a whole, in as many ways as we can.
