ABOUT THE POSITION

The Development Assistant works closely with and is strongly supported by the Development Director and the Development Associate, as well as the communications team. The Development Assistant will support TransForm’s multi-channel annual fundraising efforts and event calendar. This position is integral in keeping things humming both behind the scenes with our fundraising and at events. It includes a wide range of administrative tasks, from data entry in Salesforce and gift processing to overall support. You’ll do well in this position if you’re someone with excellent time-management skills who is detailed-oriented, organized and able to juggle multiple priorities well. This is a 50% time, non-exempt position based in Oakland.


KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Conduct all individual and corporate donation processing, tracking, acknowledgement and reconciliation.
  • Update and maintain TransForm’s Salesforce database.
  • Identify and conduct projects as needed to support high-quality contact data in TransForm’s database and maximize number of people we can reach by postal and electronic mail.
  • Provide core logistical support for all of TransForm cultivation and fundraising events, in partnership with the Development Associate, including space procurement, online registration, creation of graphics/collateral, volunteer coordination, vendor management and other logistics.
  • Research and maintain records of past and potential event venues, speakers, topics and places to advertise TransForm events.
  • Assist with procurement of event sponsorships and underwriting.
  • Maintain TransForm’s event and development supplies inventory.
  • Conduct additional data entry as needed for development staff.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • College degree or at least one year of administrative support experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in Google email, internet and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in written communication and the ability to quickly write error-free emails, thank you letters and other similar organizational correspondence.
  • Experience managing databases preferred, experience with Salesforce highly desirable.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in external communications.
  • Proficiency in basic accounting. Experience with gift processing and reconciliation a big plus.
  • Skilled in Creative Suites, and/or strong graphic design sense.
  • Budget-tracking and/or accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • Personal commitment and interest in environmental stewardship and social justice.
  • Positive attitude, personal integrity and sense of humor are highly desired!

 

COMPENSATION

This is a 50% time, non-exempt position (based on a 37.5 hour week). The salary for this position is $16.00 to $20.00/hour. Our office offers an exciting and friendly team-oriented work environment, with staff focused on making positive change in the world.
