The Role of Parking in Fighting Climate Change
For too long, outdated parking codes, traffic policies, zoning, and misconceptions have held back the kind of development that fights climate change by making communities more walkable, creating more public transportation, and rewarding those who drive less. Instead, we see overly-paved places where you have to get in a car to pick up even a carton of milk.
Thankfully, there are a range of parking strategies that can address these challenges and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Learn from Parking Experts About Innovative Parking Strategies
Jeffrey Tumlin of Nelson/Nygaard, will provide an overview of the role parking plays in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Then, Jay Primus from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) will present the innovative SFparkprogram that is piloting various parking strategies in San Francisco.
And Don't Forget to RSVP
TransForm's regional meetings are free and open to the public. They run from 5:30 to 7:00. Please RSVP to lauri@TransFormCA.org or call 510.740.3150 so that we provide enough seating and food.
Regional meetings are a great way to connect with the issues and TransForm.
TransForm holds regional meetings typically every other month in downtown San Francisco.
The meetings are free and open to the public and a great place to learn about current transportation and land use issues, meet advocates from across the region, and hear from organizations and leaders working on similar issues.
TransForm typically hosts an orientation starting at 5:00pm before the regional meetings for those who are new to TransForm or the issues.
