Summer is in full swing, and we want to celebrate with you!

Join us at one of our popular summer socials coming up this month. You’ll get to mix and mingle with TransFormers and friends, play some trivia (and maybe a chance to win a prize), and get the latest on our work to improve transportation and housing in California. Bring friends, family, and coworkers — the more the merrier.

Tickets are only $10, and that includes a free drink ticket. Get yours before they run out.

We’re excited to see you in San Francisco or San Jose!

TWO REPORTS HOT OFF THE PRESSES: NEW MOBILITY, NEW OPPORTUNITIES

The future of transportation could be bright, with efficiently shared modes powered by renewable energy on safer streets, more affordable and accessible than today’s transportation network. Or it could go the other way, widening the inequality gap and leaving disadvantaged communities behind.

TransForm is working for that brighter future, and our new Framework for Equity in New Mobility report lays out a path to get there. Read the report and this blog post to learn more.

TransForm is already working for equity in new mobility innovation with our advocacy to expand access to bike share and car share in Oakland. Yesterday, as bike share launched in the East Bay, we also released a new report about that, OakMob 101: A Case Study in Expanding Access to New Mobility.

HOW AN AFFORDABLE HOME NEAR TRANSIT CHANGES LIVES

Kailei Johnson is no policy expert, but she understands better than most the importance of affordable housing near transit. When she could no longer afford her rent in Woodland, Kailei and her three young kids became homeless, living in and out of hotels. But their fate took a turn for the better last winter when she and her family moved into a brand new low-income apartment at West Gateway Place in West Sacramento.

West Gateway Place is the first finished development that was funded by California’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program. It provides 77 units affordable to families earning 30-60% of West Sacramento’s area median income.

Check out our new report about how AHSC developments like West Gateway Place can dramatically improve our state’s housing affordability crisis, connect people with better transportation choices, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

ENVISION A FASTER, FAIRER HIGHWAY 101

Traffic congestion along Highway 101 is miserable, and won’t get better unless we revolutionize the transportation choices available to people traveling between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. If you care about making travel on Highway 101 faster and fairer, join us for a Caltrain/101 Corridor Vision discussion at Redwood City City Hall on July 19 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Join experts from TransForm, Caltrain, Stanford University, and SPUR to discuss innovative solutions to the nation’s worst gridlock.
