Safe Route to Transit helps San Francisco Bay Area residents make crucial last-mile bicycle and pedestrian connections to regional transit.
Funded by a $1 bridge toll increase, Safe Routes to Transit has awarded $20 million to bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects in five competitive grant cycles. Instead of giving away funding to any bike and ped project in the Bay Area, SR2T rewards projects that have the most innovative and well-rounded solutions to increase safety to transit. This $20 million has helped fund 54 projects that have cost over $60 million. SR2T is in its fifth year of programming with next year funding expected to come from MTC's One Bay Area Grant (OBAG).
