Rachel Davidman
I got my first set of wheels when I was about 3. I firmly believe that this Big Wheel had a big impact on me. I have since graduated to a bicycle which brings me almost as much joy, especially when it comes to my commute to work.
I love living and working in Oakland, and what I love most is that I have an enjoyable commute to work. Whether it is riding my bicycle, taking the 18 AC Transit bus or using my own two feet, my number one preference is to leave my car at home.
I want to take the Car Free Challenge because I believe we can make a difference in the environment, I support healthy lifestyle choices , and I believe that by getting out of our cars we can create more community in a society that is rapidly becoming more and more plugged in and tuned out. After just spending a Car- Free week in New York City, I am determined to find ways to expand my Car-Free wings beyond just my commute to work! I expect that I will learn about new bus lines, discover new bike lanes and exchange smiles with more strangers.
Please support me in my effort!
