We're sprinting to the finish line

This week, TransForm is sprinting to the finish line.

Starting Monday, we shared one story a day (via email) from the incredible people who have become a part of our work to create a better connected, more affordable, and livable California for all. Are you ready to join us too?

My name is Paolo, and I am a proud member of TransForm’s Board of Directors. In my day job, I work hard to make riding a bicycle safer and easier for more people. And that’s why I support TransForm – because they’re doing that too at the regional and state level. I also know that it takes years to build the relationships they have that help garner support for the innovative projects they’re working on. And it takes lots of financial resources along the way, too.

That’s why I’m asking you to donate to TransForm this week during our Sprint and help us reach our $20,000 goal.

But don’t take my word for it. Here are the stories from four other people who support and are touched by TransForm’s work:

Aila

“As someone who has dedicated over 20 years to social justice issues, I care deeply about closing the huge opportunity gaps that exist in our communities. I was introduced to TransForm at a mixer in Mountain View, where I live. Then I had a "TransForm-ative moment," I like to say. I finally saw that accessible transportation for everyone is a social justice issue.

TransForm is not just about transportation choices. TransForm is about transforming transportation and I believe in their power to increase access and opportunity for ALL of us. So please, join me and donate to TransForm this week during the TransForm Sprint. Match my recent gift of $500, or give what you can.”

Perry and Ireri

“We are Perry and Ireri, co-presidents of Earth Team at our high school. Over the past three years, TransForm and the Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Program have made a huge impact on us and our school community. For both of us, being a part of TransForm is so important. It has allowed us to be actively involved and act as leaders in our school community. As teenagers, we normally don’t get the opportunity to have such a significant impact.

As we get ready for college, we’ve had the opportunity to reflect on the importance of TransForm - to us and to our school. We’ve had the opportunity to learn about transportation choices, the impact traffic has on our communities and brainstorm ideas to encourage our peers to be healthier. We hope you will join TransForm and donate to their Sprint todayEvery gift matters and says: “YES, I want our kids to be healthier by walking, biking or carpooling to school, safely!”

Mayor Sam Liccardo

“San Jose is one of many California cities poised for massive population growth over the next few decades. That's why we need to find innovative solutions that get people out of gridlock and to their destinations quickly and affordably.

It’s critical for us to retrofit this city from one that was built for cars into one that is built for people. Throughout my career, I have supported creating more transportation choices and investing in public transit, biking, ridesharing, and other forms of alternative transportation. I believe that transit integrated with well-planned housing density will help reduce our traffic congestion, improve air quality, and promote affordability. So does TransForm.

I believe in TransForm because they have been pushing to make this vision come to life in San Jose, Silicon Valley, and throughout California. They bring their expertise to the table and get community members, businesses, and neighborhood associations involved in the process.

If you want to see more transportation and housing choices in San Jose and Silicon Valley, please donate to the TransForm Sprint today.”
