Bills We Supported in 2009

AB 1135 (Skinner) Vehicle Miles Traveled: Requires drivers to record their odometer reading every year when renewing a vehicle's registration.  The data would inform the state of total vehicle travel and allow agencies to understand what strategies to improve transportation options are having the greatest benefit.  Sponsored by TransForm.  Held in Assembly Appropriations.

SB 215 (Wiggins) LAFCO SB 375 Implementation: Requires Local Area Formation Commissions to consult regional Sustainable Community Strategies when defining a cities urban growth. Signed into law by the Governor.

SB 83 (Hancock): To give county transportation agencies the ability to ask voters to levy a $10 annual per a vehicle license fee to support transportation. Signed into law by the Governor.

SB 406 (DeSaulnier): This bill authorizes an additional two dollars fee on vehicle registrations for planning Sustainable Community Strategies under SB 375. Vetoed by the Governor.

SB 518 (Lowenthal) Vehicles: parking services and fees. Failed passage in the Senate.

SB 728 (Lowenthal) Air Pollution: parking cash-out program. Signed into law by the Governor.

AB 1186 (Blumenfield): Employee parking cash out program. Vetoed by the Governor.

SB 295 (Dutton): Delays Implementation of the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006. Failed passage in the Senate.
