Join a diverse group of transit riders, workers, faith leaders, policy experts, public health representatives, and other everyday Bay Area residents and spend a day educating our elected/appointed representatives to win better transportation and livable communities for everyone.
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) are in the final stages of finishing a 25 year plan for housing and transportation in the Bay Area.
- Did you know that MTC/ABAG studied the “Environment, Equity, and Jobs Scenario” and found out that what is good for our community is BEST for our air quality?
- Did you know that the Alameda County Public Health Department did a Health Impact Assessment that found that decreased bus service harms our health?
Visit MTC and ABAG representatives around the region to educate them on these important findings and advocate for them to increase funding our transit, prevent displacement, and make sure we get the affordable housing we need everywhere we need it.
The goal for the day is to visit the office of every single MTC and ABAG representative - but there are many of them and they are in 9 counties. Advocates will break into several teams – and we need you!
Sign up today! A light breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as help with transportation to and from the visits. Attendees are asked to pay $5 to help cover the cost of the day (no one turned away for lack of funds).
To sign up, email Claire at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (510) 269-4692.
