A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL COORDINATOR

Every day looks a little different, so here's just one example: you might start your morning before the bell rings at an elementary school, welcoming students during a “Walking Wednesday”, talking with parents about joining a Walking School Bus, or planning the school’s next event with the school’s volunteer parent champion. You’d stop in to say hello to office staff and the principal, then head to your home office to record participation numbers in the program database. You’ll send registration emails to the 40+ schools you’re responsible for, inviting them to participate in International Walk and Roll to School Day. Later, you’ll have an online meeting with a co-worker to strategize scheduling visits from the BikeMobile across schools in Alameda County. You’ll get ready to present the plan to the site coordinator team at our weekly in-person team meeting at TransForm’s office.
