As one of TransForm’s Safe Routes to Schools Oakland program specialists, Sean Mullen works with champions at Oakland elementary schools to promote safe walking and biking to school, and also reducing traffic congestion in Oakland schools. He implements free, innovative programming to public schools that help strengthen and unite the community by educating children and adults alike. Using tools such as site assessments, walking school buses, and musicals, he is helping make Oakland a safer community for its residents.
Prior to joining the TransForm team, Sean worked as Playworks Program Coordinator. He became an integral part of the school community while implementing a five-component program centered around a safe and inclusive recess. During his time at Bret Hart Elementary, he helped decrease referrals by over 60%. His favorite part of this work was coaching underprivileged girls and boys sports teams.
Sean was born on a U.S. Airforce Base in Wiesbaden, Germany, but soon after was relocated to the states with his mother, father, and brother. He enjoys coaching youth sports, singing, and working with his church's ministries of outreach. His ultimate dream is to be an entrepreneur who is able to bless the less fortunate families with homes.
