The last day was the best

After driving twice my week's goal on the first day, I was concerned that I was not going to be able to use public transportation on the last day. But then I had a thought!

my mileage goal!  I got a call for a work project and had to travel to San Jose, and those car miles added up quickly.

How I divorced my car

It was very difficult for me to let go of my car. I grew up in a suburb of Washington, DC where we had two cars parked in the driveway which were essential to get anywhere interesting.

Day 7 – Car-free is not for everyone

My totals are in: 7 miles walking, 33 miles driving and 551 miles of public transit use for the week.

I commute by bike to the UC campus every day, about 3 miles round trip.

I headed over to the Dunsmir Estate on Saturday (via AC Transit #57) for Greenbelt Alliance's Bluegrass festival. It was a great day -- lots of sun and music with picnics and frisbee on the lawn.
